WORKING OBJECTIVES
  • To strenghten and enhance the capacity of other NGOs/CBOs to respond to HIV/AIDS challenges in their various communities.
  • To provide quality treatment, care and support services to PLWHA
  • Embark on advocacy activities that would impact positively on policy making on HIV/AIDS matters at national and international levels.
  • Network with local, regional and international organisations working on HIV/AIDS issues.
  • Enhance behaviour changes in the communities and risk reduction to HIV infection.
  • To get involved in programme activities that would contribute to the slowing down of the HIV epidemic.
  • To promote ethics and human right issues.
ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

There is a six-man Board of Trustees responsible for the formulation of broad policies and gives directions and focus for the organisation. These policies and organisation focus defined by the Board is often influenced by the perceived needs of the communities NELA serves as well as the welfare of the people of Nigeria as a whole.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS

This comprises of a nine man Board of Governors. The board is responsible for overseeing the general implementation of the policies affecting the organisation as is handed down from the Board of trustees from time to time.

MANAGEMENT BOARD

This board is headed by the Executive Director who reports to the Board of Governors. The board is composed of the head of each of the three departments as well as a member of the Board of Governors who may deputise for the Executive Director.

HUMAN AND INFRASTRUCTURAL RESOURCES

The organisation has 20 paid staff excluding the Executive Director. These include 1 programme Manager, 1 Administrative/Finance Manager, 1 Senior Programme Officer, 3 Programme Officers, 1 Accountant, 1 Book keeper, 1 Programme Assistant, 1 Laboratory Officer, 4 Nurses, 1 Secretary, 1 Front desk officer, 3 Drivers and 2 Office Assistant. All members of staff have good track records in their chosen field. Also NELA has a core of consultants in various fields working with the organisation in respect to its various fields of interest.

The organisation is housed within a rented structure, well equipped with each officer having access to a computer. The office is also conected to the internet thereby facilitating communication as well as self learning processes. In addition, the Organisation has two official vehicles.
